Controlroom

Summary

ControlRoom is a VR interface for controlling DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) like Ableton, Logic Pro X, or Pro Tools. It offers a suite of 3D tools, including a customizable console, spatial mixer, visualizer, virtual drum kit, and much more.

Roles:

Software Engineer and Associate Producer (9 Months).

Accomplishments:

Software Engineer:

Standalone Mode, where users can try all of ControlRoom’s features without connecting to a DAW.

• Built the front-end of the Virtual Desktop tool, which allows users to see their desktop in VR.






• Ported the game to the HTC Vive.

• Optimized VR projects in Unity so that they could meet the performance standards required by Oculus.

• Prepared Quest (Android) and PC builds for release by finding and squashing bugs.

• Built several prototypes for a project based around the Magic Leap and food preparation.

• Built basic interactions and menus for ControlRoom Mobile, ControlRoom VR’s companion app.

• Built several features for the flagship project's front end, including a demo and tutorial mode (since replaced by Standalone Mode, mentioned above.)

Associate PRoducer:

• Introduced the company to Scrum and acted as the company’s ScrumMaster.

• Administered the company’s Jira, Confluence, and Trello.

• Wrote all of the project’s Steam marketing posts.

• Wrote a substantial portion of the project’s customer-facing documentation.

• Wrote all of the game’s customer-facing surveys.

• Coordinated and recorded all playtesting events, such as this event.

• Represented the application at Trade Shows such as NAMM.

• Created GIFs for the project’s Steam page and its documentation.
